Our take
Hayes signed in July after three seasons with the Lakers. He's a 7-footer who lives above the rim and shot 75.6% from the field last season. He finishes lobs and protects the rim in short bursts.
He's the backup five to open the season, and a better lob partner for Collier and George than anyone else on the roster. He could end up starting if Nurkić's minutes shrink. The free-throw line (65.3%) is the known weakness.
